Prisons serve the community by ensuring that prisoners are held securely (prison security), treated with humanity (prison conditions), and prepared for release (reform and rehabilitation). Panopticon Consulting believes that a Human Rights approach should underpin each of these elements if a prison system is to be effective. Our work therefore has Human Rights as its foundation and we work with the governments, United Nations agencies and other organisations, as well as staff working in prisons and other places of detention, to build awareness of human rights into all the work that we do.

Panopticon Consulting bases its work on the nine blocks of a good prison system and has extensive experience of providing advice, training and support on each element.
